What the detail changes
Digital-aided coordination concerns the exchange of machine-readable information, its consistent interpretation and its presentation to authorised operators. A link that transmits data is necessary but not sufficient: both ends need compatible formats, procedures and timing. A demonstration with aircraft is therefore a useful integration reference without being proof of a service-wide procurement.
Greek consequence, counterforces and next evidence
For Greece, IDE’s coordinating role can help build engineering references and relationships beyond a domestic purchase. A proposed follow-on still needs a funded award and exploitation terms. The alternative is a successful experiment that stays within the research programme. Watch repeat tests, validated interface standards, customer requirements and support arrangements.
What is documented
IDE reported a PROTEAS digital-aided close-air-support demonstration during the Amboise XVIII experimentation event in France on 2–3 June. Its September account described information exchange between an approaching aircraft and ground command software. The French armed forces provided Rafale and Mirage 2000 aircraft for the activity. IDE participates as coordinator of the EDF project. The company also reported discussions about a possible follow-on project, which should not be presented as an awarded programme. Publication and event dates are different: this is a September report about a June demonstration, rather than a newly conducted test. Further project activities were described as planned when the announcement was issued.
Access to demanding multinational demonstrations can help technology suppliers establish integration references, but it does not establish operational adoption.
What remains open
No procurement award or independently published performance results were verified.
